Daniels Emerges As Big Man Prospect

Chris Daniels of Sam Houston High was one of the real surprises of the Houston Kingwood Classic. The 6-10 big man is receiving a lot of attention these days, but still no major camp invite.

Daniels Makes Mark As Prospect

Chris Daniels a 6-10 center from Sam Houston High who plays with Texas Platinum is having a nice spring. He's the top prospect on his AAU team and he seems to be building on his successful high school season in which he averaged 12 points and 14 rebounds a game.

He's making strides, but it's not always the physical part by which you make the most improvement. "Probably the mental part," Daniels said. "I'm the biggest person on the team in width and height. Every team we played with a big man, I had to play him." As a junior, Daniels had himself ready for those challenges.

So far, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Tulsa, Drake, UTEP, Texas Tech and Texas A&M have shown interest. "It's a lot of people. I can't even name them all."

Daniels took the SAT May 4. Currently, he's waiting to see if anyone steps up and invites him to a major camp. "No one has given me an invitation to go to Nike or adidas Camp."
