Marcus Dove, 6-7 JR SF Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan, is an intriguing player who has a chance to be among the best at his position in the west. Long, athletic and skilled with the ball, Dove has shown signs lately of developing an outside shot. If he's able to knock down the perimeter shot, and play with a little more consistent effort, then he will likely be a high major player.
We spoke with Marcus over the weekend and he told us that Arizona St. and Colorado St. have both come out to see him in the last month. Colorado St. watched him work out, while Arizona St. coaches spoke with him at his school. We asked for his impression of Arizona St. and Dove replied, "They were cool. It sounds like they really wanted me."
When asked about other schools that have been expressing interest, Dove said, "USC and UConn have both been sending a lot of mail."
Dove said he has no problem leaving the West Coast. Playing time, though, will likely be a factor in his decision. "I don't expect to come in and start or anything," Dove said. "But I'd like to be able to get some time early."
Dove said that he will likely make his decision after the summer AAU tournaments are done. He said his GPA is around 2.5 and he just took the SAT.
