Roy, who is one of the top ten or so players on the west coast and probably a top 60 player nationally, will not get an agent. He will go to the NBA camps to check his stock, but without hiring an agent, he could still take his name out of the draft and go to college.
Roy, who has committed to Washington, reportedly, was going to struggle to qualify. Strong rumors had him headed to a JC. His academic situation more than likely contributed to his decision to put his name into the NBA draft.
Under the new NCAA rules, a high school student can now rescind his name once he has submitted for the NBA draft. In recent years, only college students could submit their name into the NBA draft and then take their name back out before the actual draft. But the new recent rule changes dictate that high school students can do so also.
