Watkins Lists Five

Quinton Watkins, one of the better wings in the west for 2007, talks about his early list of schools...

Quinton Watkins, 6-4 JR SG Compton (Calif.) Dominguez, is an exceptional athlete with an improving jump shot. An explosive lefty who is very effective in transition, Watkins has good size and the potential to be a great defender. We saw him play last week at the Westchester tournament and we were impressed with the progress he's made since the summer.

We spoke with Watkins last night and he told us five schools currently top his list.

"UCLA, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and USC," said Watkins.

Watkins told us that Arizona was his favorite school when he was younger.

"I liked Miles Simon, Mike Bibby and those guys," said Watkins. "But now all the schools are pretty even for me."

Watkins addressed some of the issues he'll consider when choosing a school.

"I would kind of like to go away, but I could see myself staying home and playing in the Pac-10," said Watkins. "The big thing will be how I fit in with the program -- is it a good place for me? I'd like to play right away if possible, but I won't base my decision on early playing time."

Watkins has no plans to make an early decision.

"I'll go through the summer," said Watkins. "I want to have the experience of being recruited and see what my options are."

Watkins said he'll play with Team Danny Williams in the spring and summer.
