New Schools On Harden

Joe Harden, one of the top wings still on the board in the West Coast class of 2006, has a couple high major programs evaluating him during his senior year...

Joe Harden, 6-5 SR SG/SG Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's, is a terrific all-around player who decided to wait until the spring to make his college choice.

We spoke with Harden last night and he told us four schools are expressing interest in him at this time.

"UC Santa Barbara, USC, Notre Dame and Montana are the four main ones right now," said Harden. "Notre Dame came out last Monday and watched a practice."

Harden has already taken an official visit to Santa Barbara. He told us he'll schedule more visits after his season ends.

"We just started the season and it is kind of tough to take trips now," said Harden.

We asked Harden for his feelings on playing at a mid major program, where he might play earlier, as opposed to a high major, where he might have to wait for playing time.

"I want to play at the best place," said Harden. "I want to push myself -- I'm always up for a challenge."
