Phil Jones was arguably the best big man in the gym a few weeks back at the National Prep Tip-Off Showcase. Now he's getting plenty of calls - some from schools he's never even heard of.
Phil Jones earned a vacation after his play last month at the National Prep Tip-Off Showcase in Rhode Island.
The 6-foot-10, 260-pound Brooklyn, N.Y., native is currently spending some time with relatives in Indiana while Laurinburg Institute (N.C.) is in the midst of its winter break.
``I think I did well in Rhode Island because I've been getting calls from a lot of school," Jones said. "Schools I've never even heard of."
Jones said one of the reasons why he felt his play was at such a high level was because he hasn't received much notoriety.
``Not being ranked," he said. ``I had something to prove."
Jones said that some of his recent suitors include Charlotte, Georgia, UAB and Tulane.
``After I take the test in January, I'm going to go on some visits," he said. "I'd like to visit Miami, USC and Clemson for sure. I'm not sure about the other two."
