White Still Sorting Out Options

Decensae White, 6-5 SR SG San Mateo (Calif.) Serra, committed earlier this year to Loyola Marymount, but changed his mind and decided to wait until spring before choosing a school.

We spoke with White recently and asked about the schools he's been hearing from lately.

"I haven't heard from a lot of schools lately," said White. "I'm mainly putting together game film and sending that out with my transcripts. I had a lot of mid major offers after summer, but I hurt my knee and I think that hindered my recruitment. I didn't think I showed what I could do. I've come back better after the knee injury and I would like to attract some high major attention if I'm good enough.

We also spoke with Decensae's father and he told us that one school, in particular, is high on his son's list.

"UCLA is the main one we're interested in," said Mr. White. "I got a call from (UCLA assistant) Donny Daniels asking for his transcripts and that was a big day. I grew up watching all the UCLA greats – Wicks, Walton, etc. – and that would be the ultimate, to play in Westwood.

Decensae told us that he's fully qualified.
