Martavius Adams SEC-Bound

Martavius Adams didn't think he'd get the offer, but when the Baldwin High (Ga.) big man heard the words, he wasted no time in accepting it.

Martavius Adams waited long enough. He didn't take long to respond.

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Milledgeville Baldwin (Ga.) junior big man received the scholarship offer from Georgia head man Dennis Felton on Monday – about 48 hours after the Bulldogs coach watched a trimmed-down Adams in a victory against Senario Hillman's Wilkinson County team.

He accepted Felton's offer without hesitation.

``It felt good," Adams said. "When they called, I was in the middle of practice – but I talked to them anyway. They told me they wanted me and I was like, ‘ok'."

Adams has dropped about 50 pounds and runs the court much better than he did in the spring and summer. He finished with 17 points and 6 rebounds in the victory on Saturday night despite sitting nearly the entire third quarter due to foul trouble.

``He's a stud," Baldwin coach Lenwood May said of his star player.

Adams said that he was also considering Florida State, Clemson and Miami – but that he always wanted to play in nearby Athens.

``I like the style of play – and it's close to home," he said.
