Taylor Has Impressive List
Anyway you look at it, Shawn Taylor had himself a terrific junior season. The 6-11 Dooley center averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and get this … 11 blocks. Having seen Taylor play this spring with Georgia Elite, the blocks figure might sound high, but the kid cleans them up down there.
There might not be a prospect in the class who could use a college strength and weight training program more than Taylor. At his height, 200 pounds is awful skinny but Taylor has tremendous shot blocking instincts and a nice touch around the rim.
He's working on his body too. "I'm just trying to build up my upper body right now." With Elite, Taylor hasn't received the bulk of the big man minutes. However, when he's been in the lineup the times we've seen him, he's contributed. When inserted, he's quick to get on the glass, block a shot or show off a nice touch around the rim.
So far, Taylor has offers from Cincinnati and Florida State. Miami-FL, Western Kentucky, Alabama, Kansas and Tennessee have also shown interest. Not bad for a young man who recorded a 21 blocked shot game last season.
Look for Taylor at the 2002 Nike All-American Camp.
