``It's a lot of fun, but its hard work," said the 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior guard.
The work paid off for Beatty and his teammates last week as a guard-oriented St. Anthony's team knocked off a much bigger Mater Dei (Calif.) team featuring Duke-bound junior forward Taylor King.
Beatty, who scored 18 points in the win against Mater Dei and connected on 4-of-9 trifectas, is a versatile combo guard who can shoot the ball from the perimeter, finish in the lane – and also set his teammates up for easy baskets.
``I rely on my aggressiveness and energy," he said. "I just try and play hard."
Beatty, 17, is averaging about 12 points on a team that rarely features anyone reaching 20 points in a game.
``I love all of them right now," Beatty said. "The key for me is to be able to come in my freshman year and contribute."
