Big Ten School Leads For Booker

One of the best unsigned prospects in the South is having a big senior season. David Booker, a power forward out of Moss Point High, is putting up strong numbers in his final campaign.

Colleges are scrambling to find post targets and our research tells us that David Booker is having a strong finish to his high school career. Moss Point's 6-foot-7, 230-pound power forward has been getting after it.

28 points and 11 boards a game has our attention. Good for him, especially after what happened during Hurricane Katrina. At the time, Booker was making official visits when the storm hit.

"I visited SMU in Dallas but I didn't get to visit the schools I wanted to visit because of the hurricane," Booker said. "I felt that it would be best to wait (until the spring period)."

Booker and his family had to evacuate their home and made for Gaston, Ala., where they remained for two weeks. The bottom floor of their house flooded and the roof was blown off.

"It took a while (to fix) because other people's houses were further damaged than ours," Booker said. "It took a good month for them to get to ours."

Booker said his family is fine and life has returned to normal. Soon, it'll be time to reach a college decision. SMU, Northwestern, Memphis and Texas A&M are in the hunt for his services.

"I think Northwestern leads," Booker said. "It's the conference that they're in and the location. It's close to a city and I really didn't want to go to school in a rural place and I have a lot of family still there."

Booker said that he's not going to take any visits during the season but upon completion of the year he'll take a stronger looks at these programs.
