Russell Westbrook's Stock Rising

Russell Westbrook, a 6-2 senior guard from Leuzinger High, is having a terrific senior season. Several Pac-10 programs have taken notice...

Russell Westbrook, 6-2 SR PG/SG Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger, has improved dramatically in the last year. He's grown a couple inches, his athleticism has improved and he's now able to score from anywhere on the court.

Westbrook isn't a finished product yet, though, and that's one of the most intriguing things about him as a prospect. He's got huge hands, big feet and a baby face. It's quite possible he grows another inch or two. With his length and quickness, we think he's going to defend both guard spots. He's a very good rebounder and he has the ability to get his shot off inside against size. His handle is just decent at this point, but he's a good passer and makes solid decisions. He's a good, not great, shooter with three-point range.

We spoke with Westbrook recently and he indicated that his recruitment is pretty much in a holding pattern at this time.

"I'm not going to do anything until after the season," said Westbrook. "I don't have a favorite and I won't be taking any trips until the season is over."

Westbrook told us he's been hearing from UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Kent State, San Diego, Colorado State and Wyoming.

We asked him about offers and he said, "Kent State, Wyoming and San Diego have offered."

Westbrook told us he has a 3.8 GPA and a qualifying test score.
