2007's Grady Stays In-State

Kelvin Grady, a standout point guard from East Grand Rapids is keeping with the family tradition. On Monday he opted for a Big Ten basketball program.

Kelvin Grady, at a press conference at East Grand Rapids High School, committed to the University of Michigan to play basketball. The junior point guard is also a football standout and will try the sport later in his career in Ann Arbor.

Grady's brother is a running back and Michigan and one of the Wolverines top players.

"I know that he visited Xavier this weekend and he came and now with Kalin Lucas going to Michigan State, that left an opening," Michigan Hurricanes AAU coach Will Smith said. "He's going to Michigan."

Grady said he talked to his brother about the college decision and listened to what he had to say but made his own choice. ""But the best thing he told me was just to follow my heart, and not listen to anyone telling me to do something I didn't want to do," Grady said during his press conference.

Smith thinks Grady has a chance to be a major contributor to the Wolverines. He's ranked a 3-star hoops prospect by Scout.com "He's the prototype point guard. He passes well, he gets to the rim and he locks up on defense. I think his team only lost one game this year and that's been because of him. They should contend for the state championship."
