Peoples Headed to Big East

Jonathan Peoples ended his recruitment on Monday night - and the Chicago native is headed to the Big East.

Jonathan Peoples fully admits his summer didn't go exactly as he had planned – but he's made up for it with a strong senior year thus far that has helped put an end to his recruitment.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Westchester St. Joseph's (Ill.) combo guard committed to Notre Dame on Monday night.

``They got in the picture at the beginning of school," Peoples said of the Irish. "It's a great school - not just athletically, either. They will help me with my future beyond basketball."

``The decision felt good for me, so I wasn't going to wait," he added. "It's a great opportunity and I didn't want someone else to take it before me."

People is averaging 16 points per game and also considered USC, Purdue and Tulane.

``Our team didn't play together over the summer," said Peoples, who played with the Illinois Fire. "I didn't play that great, either."
