2008 Introduction: Nathen Garth

Nathen Garth, a talented young point guard from Sacramento, has had multiple high major programs looking at him this year...

Nathen Garth, 6-0 SO PG Sacramento (Calif.) Capitol Christian, is a talented playmaker with a signifciant upside. Garth has good length and quickness, with the ability to break down defenses and make plays for his teammates. He has a very good left hand for a young guard and a solid shot to the stripe. With continued development, Garth has a chance to play at the high major level.

We spoke with Garth yesterday and he gave us a rundown on his recruitment.

"The schools that have come out to see me, at a practice or game this year, are Cal, Arizona, Washington, San Francisco, St. Mary's, Villanova, Utah and UNLV," said Garth.

Other schools that have contacted Garth include UCLA, Kentucky, Memphis and Texas, among others.

Garth told us he has taken unofficial visits to Cal, Arizona State and UCLA. Garth played in the UCLA elite camp last June. He plans to take an unofficial visit to Texas when he visits his brother in March.

When asked what he's looking for in a program, Garth said, "I want to go someplace where they have an established point guard -- someone who plays well that I can learn from. Location is not an issue. I would like to play someplace where they get up and down, and also where they have a good big man."

Garth said he's hoping to make a decision relatively early.

"My parents and I would like to get it done sometime during my junior year," said Garth.

Garth told us he has a 3.4 GPA and he expects to play with the Arizona Magic and NorCal Elite in the spring and summer.
