Hollis Heads North

Damien Hollis got it done - and the versatile Taravella High (Fla.) senior is headed north.

Damien Hollis, a 6-foot-8 senior at Coral Springs Taravella (Fla.), committed to George Washington.

``The thing I like about him is his versatility," Taravella coach Clarence Fleming said. "He can shoot it outisde, is a good rebounder and also can block shots. He's agile and is still growing into his body."

Hollis also considered Seton Hall and Rhode Island.

Hollis' father played at St. Bonaventure and then played briefly in the NBA before having a lengthy career overseas in which he played against George Washington assistant Roland Houston.

However, it was Colonials assistant Darrell Brooks who spearheaded the recruiting efforts to land Hollis.
