Fields Is Rare Cardinal Late Addition

Landry Fields is off the board. The previously uncommitted senior wing is staying in Pac-10 country after a busy weekend of scholarship offer action.

The Stanford Cardinal now owns four recruits from the Class of 2006. Recently, wing Landry Fields, a 6-foot-5 prospect out of Los Alamitos High, gave his word to Trent Johnson.

The news came just a few days after Arizona's Lute Olson watched Fields and eventually offered him a scholarship. Gonzaga was also in the mix for Fields.

The Stanford school newspaper reported that Fields is only the 3rd prospect in the last 10 years that Stanford has added during the spring signing period. Fields was cleared by admissions late last week, prompting the Cardinal to officially make him a scholarship overture.

Ranked as one of the top wings on the West Coast, Fields is the fourth prospect to cast his lot with Stanford in the Class of 2006.

Joining Fields on the are twins Brook and Robin Lopez and big man Will Paul out of Texas.
