Two Leaders For Thompson

Scott Thompson, one of the elite big men in the west for 2007, has Mountain West, Pac-10 and WCC programs showing strong interest in him...

Scott Thompson, 6-10 JR C Meridian (Ida.) Mountain View, is one of the top post prospects in the west for 2007. A mobile and skilled center, Thompson can step out to about 17-19 feet, as well as do damage in the paint.

We spoke with Thompson yesterday and asked him about the programs he's considering at this time.

"Utah, Washington, Washington State, Pepperdine and Oregon State are the main ones right now," said Thompson.

We asked Thompson if any programs are particularly strong with him.

"I'd say Utah and Washington," said Thompson.

Thompson talked a little about the things he's looking for in a school.

"The coaching is the big one," said Thompson. "How the team gets along and how the school is academically is important."

We asked Thompson if early playing time is a big deal to him.

"Not really," said Thompson. "Not as a freshman anyway. I'd like to get a little time as a sophomore and then play more as a junior and senior."

Thompson told us he has a 3.4 GPA. He plans on taking his visits in the fall.
