Martin Could Be One to Watch

The forward from Upland, Tod Martin, showed some nice potential at the Mats Madness tourney in Fresno recently, and could be a recruit to keep an eye on...

Todd Martin, 6-7 JR PF, Upland (Calif.) High, showed some skills that he hadn't when we had seen him before.

He showed an improved athleticism, with a decent ability to get off the floor, and he ran well. He was aggressive inside, with some fairly strong post moves, but could also step out and shoot the ball from three. He's kind of a poor man's Luke Walton.

So far, Martin is hearing from St. Mary's, Santa Barbara, UTEP and a bit from Nebraska. "Santa Barbara and St. Mary's came to see me play," he said.

Martin, who averaged 12 points and 9 boards as a junior, said he had no problem with leaving the area to go to college. He said he had no dream school growing up, but is looking for a college "where there are a lot of activities," along with "a good education, a good program and good fan support."

Martin said he has a 3.5 GPA and passed the SAT, but wants to attempt it again to improve his score.
