Wiggins Has Top Four

Alan Wiggins, a 6-7 junior power forward from Poway (Calif.) High, has had a terrific spring and a number of schools are recruiting him. He told us yesterday that four schools are at the top of his list right now...

Alan Wiggins, 6-7 JR PF Poway (Calif.) High, is a mobile, rangy post player with a very nice upside. He's got a decent shot facing up out to fifteen feet, moves very well and plays hard.

We spoke with Alan yesterday and he told us that his four favorites at this point are Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount and Oregon.

During the contact period, Wiggins was visited by Loyola Marymount, Colorado St. and Utah. Other schools sending frequent mail include Tulsa and Georgetown.

We asked Wiggins about the factors he's considering in choosing a school. "I'm looking for the best school academically," Wiggins said. "And I'd rather stay on the West Coast. Playing time is not an issue at all -- it's about a college education."

Wiggins doesn't anticipate making a decision anytime soon. "I want to play this summer, gives schools a chance to see me. I'll probably take several trips."

Wiggins will play with the Rockfish team this summer at the Battle of the Bronx, the Big Time and the Best of Summer. He'll attend the Pump camp in July as well.

Wiggins told us he has a 2.9 GPA and just took the SAT last weekend.
