Tar Heels Lock Up Prospect
JamesOn Curry, a rising junior and all-stater from North Carolina, committed to the Tar Heels on Saturday, according to his high school coach. Curry attends Eastern Alamance High in Mebane.
"People said he'd never get recruited out of a school like this," coach John Moon said referring to the small school atmosphere the school with an enrollment of 825 students has. "Well, Chapel Hill isn't a bad school."
And JamesOn isn't a bad player either.
On Jan. 16, he toppled the 1,000 career point mark as a sophomore. He scored 45 points in the record setting game. He has been UNC's top target at the guard spot in his class. Matt Doherty and the staff used a number of evaluations on him as a sophomore.
So, what does UNC get in Curry? Well, for starters they get a young man who knows how to find the bottom on the net. From downtown he has a big time stroke. His game off the bounce is starting to really accelerate. He can run some point in a pinch. The kid can flat out score the basketball.
Curry will attend the Nike All-American Camp for the second consecutive year. He'll also be in Colorado Springs for the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival.
