Strawberry Has Leader

D.J. Strawberry, a 6-4 shooting guard from Mater Dei, hasn't received a lot of national hype yet, but one high-profile school is showing interest. Strawberry says that school is his leader, with a couple Pac-10 schools also in the mix.

D.J. Strawberry, 6-4 SG Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, has had a very good spring and one national power is showing serious interest. Strawberry told us yesterday that Maryland has offered and they're his leader at this point. In addition to the Terrapins, Strawberry lists USC and Oregon as schools that he's considering.

Maryland visited Strawberry during the spring contact period and he plans on taking a trip to the Maryland campus in September. "They came after me the hardest," Strawberry said. "They were very straightforward and they're the best school on my list."

Strawberry plans on making a decision prior to his senior season.

Strawberry will play with California Team Select at the Peach Jam and he may attend the Nike camp. He'll be with Mater Dei at the Big Time.

He told us he's on track to qualify and he took the SAT recently, but has yet to receive his results.
