Jones Exploring Options

DeAngelo Jones, a talented junior guard from Washington, has some Pac-10 and WCC programs showing interest in him...

DeAngelo Jones, 6-2 JR SG Seattle (Wash.) Rainier Beach, suffered a ruptured Achilles in January and he's out of action until June.

We spoke with Jones yesterday and he gave us an update on the schools he's hearing from at this time.

"Washington has been in contact and Gonzaga has let me know they have a scholarship for me," said Jones. "I'm also hearing from Oregon and Georgia Tech, along with a few others."

We asked Jones what he is looking for in a school.

"The education, of course, important," said Jones. "Someplace with a good tradition. As for location, it'd be kind of good to go away, but I also could see staying home. So I'm open on that."

Jones said he hasn't given much thought to the timing of his decision.

"With the injury, I've just been focused on getting back on the court," said Jones. "Right now, they're saying I'll be cleared by June 6th. So I'll play in the summer and then narrow it down after that."

Jones told us he has a 3.0 GPA.
