Israel Looking For Fit, Style
Wheaton (MD) Good Counsel combo forward Omari Israel is hearing from a lot of schools but he's not in any kind of rush to make a decision. In fact, there isn't much to report on his recruitment.
"Actually, [my recruitment] pretty much has stayed the same," Israel said. "I don't really have an idea of where I want to go. I'm just pretty much wide open. I don't have any favorites or anything."
Israel says he's hearing from NC State, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Miami-FL and Notre Dame. He was at Virginia's Midnight Madness for an official visit.
"It's not that I want to hold out," Israel said, "but I just want the perfect fit. I don't want [a college] to pickup another player that plays the same position but I don't want to rush it. I want the right decision."
Israel said a familiar style of play would also be nice. "I want to go to a school that has the same style as my AAU team – running, pressing and man-to-man defense. I like fast-paced games." Israel plays for DC's Assault.
Israel averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds last year. He'll attend ABCD Camp. Schools are recruiting him primarily as a power forward that could possibly play a combo role down the line.
