Schaen Mulling Options

Harrison Schaen, a 6-8 power forward from Mater Dei, has several West Coast schools, along with some Ivy League schools, on his list. He hopes to make a decision fairly soon...

Harrison Schaen, 6-8 PF Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, told us recently that he'd like to make a decision fairly soon. "Hopefully, around the time of the Nike camp," Schaen said. "I've just sent in my application to Stanford, so I'm waiting on that."

In addition to the Cardinal, Schaen said he's considering Arizona, USC, Cal, Princeton, Yale and Penn.

Schaen has taken official visits to Stanford, Arizona and USC. He said he may take a visit to Cal.

We asked if any school stood out from his official visits and Schaen replied, "Actually, each trip was equal. They all had different aspects to them, different positives, but they were all very good."

Schaen said it would be difficult for him to leave the West Coast. "I'm a SoCal kid," Schaen said. "I get homesick really easily, I love the weather here and I like to be close to my parents."

Schaen's summer intinerary includes trips to the Nike camp, the Big Time with Mater Dei and the Fullcourt Press camp.
