High Majors On Gaines

Harrison Gaines, one of the better guards in the west for 2007, took an unofficial visit to a top Pac-10 program recently...

Harrison Gaines, 6-0 JR PG Phelan (Calif.) Serrano, is a talented playmaker and he's hearing from a number of programs.

We spoke with Gaines yesterday and asked about the schools showing interest in him.

"Utah is showing a lot of interest right now," said Gaines. "And I went to Stanford in late February on an unofficial visit when they played Arizona."

We asked Gaines for his impressions of the Stanford visit.

"It was a real nice campus," said Gaines. "The coaches were real personable. I got a chance to spend time with Coach Johnson and Coach Fuller. I met the players at their practice. They were real good guys, I was very impressed."

Gaines told us that he's also receiving letters from a number of other schools, including Washington, USC, Marquette and Georgetown.

When questioned about possibly taking more visits in the spring, Gaines said, "I'm not sure if I'll take anymore before summer. If something comes up, I might, but I don't have any planned right now. But I'll definitely take some after the summer."

Gaines told us he has a 3.6 GPA.
