Cronin, Bearcats Land Wing

Mick Cronin and his staff chased another prospect down and procured their second commitment since taking over the reigns in Bearcat land.

The Cincinnati Bearcats secured their second verbal commitment of the Mick Cronin Era when Marvin Gentry, a native Texan and strong junior college student, committed to the Bearcats this week.

Gentry had previously committed to Texas Christian but rescinded his commitment to fulfill a childhood dream of playing for the Bearcats.

"It's a lot of hardwork," Gentry said. "Coach Savino and Coach Cronin were recruiting me hard (last summer) and it just so happened that they got the Cincinnati job and it just carried over."

Gentry was the region player of the year out of McClennan Community College where he averaged 19 points a game and was a two-time all-conference performer.

"I was always a Bearcats fan. I used to watch Kenyon Martin and Kenny Satterfield. I always wanted to go there."
