CTSD Looks At The SEC

FSN South's live, weekly, half-hour recruiting series COUNTDOWN TO SIGNING DAY: HOOPS continues Wednesday, 4/5 at 6:30 p.m ET. Cory Kessler hosts CTSD from FSNS's Atlanta studio, where he is joined by Bobby Cremins, and Dave Telep.

Wednesday's show welcomes as an in-studio guest, Memphis signee Willie Kemp (6-2, 170). The nation's sixth-rated point guard hails from Bolivar (Tenn.) High School, where he averaged more 20 points and 6.5 assists per game his senior season.

CTSD highlights the Southeastern Conference, with a look at some of the top players headed its schools. Tennessee nailed down a top 20 recruiting class, adding Duke Crews (6-8, 210) and Wayne Chism (6-7, 225) to the list of future Volunteers. Crews averaged 19.7 points, 15.2 boards, and 4.8 blocks per outing for Bethel HS in Hampton, Va. Chism, a prep teammate of Memphis signee Kemp, scored 19.5 points and pulled down 13.8 boards per game for Bolivar (Tenn.) HS.

Arkansas welcomes Michael Washington from Heritage Christian Academy in Cleveland, Texas. The 6-9, 210-pound forward threw in 27.2 points, grabbed 12.8 rebounds and rejected 6.5 shots his senior season. Forward JeJuan Brown inked with Vanderbilt. The 6-7, 220-pound Biloxi (Miss.) native averaged 20 points, 11 boards and five blocks per game.

COUNTDOWN also looks at the incoming freshman for 2006 national championship game participant Florida. Center Marreese Speights (6-10, 240) is a top 10 center prospect from Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, Va.). CTSD also discusses the NCAA title game and how the performance of SEC teams Florida and LSU, both of which reached the Final Four, impacts conference recruiting.

This week's "Junior Spotlight" player is Michigan State commitment Durell Summers. The 6-4, 175-pound guard from Covenant HS in Redford, Mich., is among the top 15 players in the class of '07.
