Canadian 7-Footer Off Board

Max Craig is a 7-footer who plays hard, has the grades and is now off the board. St. Thomas More (Conn.) coach Jere Quinn isn't the only one who is shocked by the lack of interest in his big man.

Everyone wants size.

Well, everyone had their chance – and Loyola-Marymount capitalized.

Head coach Rodney Tention picked up a commitment from 7-foot Canadian Max Craig, who chose to go west over an offer from Lafayette.

``Max has incredible potential," St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn said of his big man. "He's 7-feet, 270 pounds, he runs the court well and plays hard."

``He has a chance to be a pretty good player and I'm surprised there weren't bigger schools on him," added Quinn. "He'll change the team at Loyola-Marymount."

``I'm very happy for Max, but it's absolutely bizarre because here's a kid whose got size and is also a terrific student who works hard and no one came into the gym over the last six weeks to see him," Quinn continued.
