Dunson Headed to Big 12

Dodie Dunson is off the board. He took the first of three visits this weekend - and didn't need to take the next two.

Dodie Dunson has the distinction of becoming Greg McDermott's first commitment since arriving at Iowa State.

Dunson, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound post-grad at Brewster Academy (N.H.), gave McDermott a verbal pledge while on a visit to the school this weekend.

``He felt very comfortable with Coach McDermott, Coach (Jeff) Rutter and the rest of the staff from when they were recruited him at Northern Iowa," Brewster coach Jason Smith said.

Dunson was also scheduled to visit Minnesota next weekend and Tulsa on April 21.

``In regards to character, Dodie is without peers," Smith added. "That's one of the things that Iowa State really liked about him in addition to his talent. He's got terrific work ethic, he has really improved his perimeter shot and really grew into a leadership role this past season."
