Florida Leads Pack Of Schools
Lee Humphrey, a 6-2 combo guard, recently visited an SEC unofficially. "We went down to Florida [last] Monday," Humphrey said. "It went pretty good and I liked it a lot."
"I like Coach Donovan a lot and Coach Grant. I liked the facilities and their campus and their style of play."
The question lingers: does he like the Gators enough to pull the trigger early? Is he ready to commit? "I could be," Humphrey said. "It could be a few days or it could be up until the high school season starts. Hopefully, it won't be that long."
Humphrey said that he's considering the Gators, Marquette, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Clemson. "We really like Florida a whole lot. They are definitely my No. 1 [choice]." Humphrey said that a significant gap exists between the Gators and the remainder of his list.
He sounds like a young man on the verge of a decision. The remainder of his visit plans are basically on hold. "If we do [visit anywhere], we might drive up to Marquette after the Nike Camp but I doubt it. We could end up going to Georgia Tech but we probably won't. I'm just thinking about it right now."
While he thinks about the decision, he's able to reflect on just how far he's come as a prospect. "I used to think maybe I'll get lucky and I'll get a chance to play in college. But, then as I kept improving I thought it would happen. I thought mid-major but I never thought it would happen [at this level]."
As Humphrey ponders his decision, the Gators continue to pursue guards, one in particular. "They are recruiting me as two guard and [Ryan] Appleby as a point. I play two in high school so that's fine with me." Both have offers from Florida.
