Ubaka: Two Pac-10 Favorites

Ayinde Ubaka, the #1 point guard in the West Coast class of 2003, gave us a list of five schools over the weekend. He says two schools from the Pac-10 are his leaders...

Ayinde Ubaka, 6-2 PG Oakland (Calif.) High, was extremely impressive this past weekend at the Cal team camp. His shot is much better than it was a year ago and he's deadly when he gets inside the lane.

We spoke with Ubaka Friday and he told us that his current list consists of Cal, Arizona, Florida, Oregon and USC. When asked if he had a leader, Ubaka said, "Arizona and Cal. Arizona is guard oriented and the Cal coaching staff is cool."

Ubaka hasn't taken any official visits yet, but he did take an unofficial visit to USC back in April. He plans on taking some official visits in September. "I'll definitely visit Arizona and Florida," Ubaka said.

Ubaka said he has no time frame for making a decision. "Whenever I feel comfortable," Ubaka said. "I don't want to have any regrets. I will probably do it before the season."

The next month will be a busy one for Ubaka. He plays at the USA Basketball Men's Youth Development Festival in Colorado Springs next weekend. Then he'll be at the ABCD camp, the Big Time and the Elite Eight in Berkeley.

Ubaka told us that he had a 3.3 on his last report card. He took the ACT recently but hasn't received the results yet.
