Westbrook Will Go to Westwood

Just two weeks after playing in the NCAA Championship Game, UCLA keeps its momentum rolling as it gets a commitment from one of the best unsigned senior guards in the country, 6-2 Russell Westbrook from Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger...

"I just committed to UCLA," said Russell Westbrook, the 6-2 senior guard from Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger Tuesday night.

"I just talked to (Head) Coach (Ben) Howland and committed to him," Westbrook said. "I felt it was the right decision for me."

Westbrook chose UCLA over two other finalists, ASU and San Diego. He had officially visited ASU, San Diego, Wake Forest, Creighton and Kent State, and UCLA had just offered him last Friday.

"UCLA had been recruiting me all year, though," Westbrook said. "I went to a few of their games and they were always in contact with me. I didn't know they were going to offer, but when they did, it was just right."

Why was it right? "The vibe of the school," said Westbrook. "The success they had this season was big. And I feel I can add to it and make it better. I'm the type of player that can bring whatever they want to the table, and I'm going to come in and work hard."
