Chace Stanback Reaches Decision

Chace Stanback, the top-rated small forward in the west for 2007, gave a verbal commitment to a Pac-10 program this afternoon...

Chace Stanback, 6-6 JR SF/SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax, has committed to UCLA, according to his father.

We spoke with Mr. Stanback this evening and he informed us that Chace committed to UCLA head coach Ben Howland earlier today.

"We went over there Thursday and they offered a scholarship," said Mr. Stanback. "UCLA had always been the school that Chace wanted to attend, so he committed today."

We asked Mr. Stanback for some of the reasons that his son decided to become a Bruin.

"It was UCLA," said Stanback. "He knew a couple months ago that he wanted to go there, but I made him wait to be sure. I threw out some negatives at him, to see if he might not be sure about it, but he didn't change his mind. He was positive that it was UCLA."

We asked Mr. Stanback about the other finalists in his son's recruitment.

"It was really just UCLA," said Mr. Stanback. "He didn't really want to look at anyone else. He knew what he wanted."
