Thompson Drawing Interest

Scott Thompson isn't well know nationally, but several high major programs in the west are actively recruiting him...

Scott Thompson, 6-10 JR C Meridian (Ida.) Mountain View, is a very talented big man with a bright future. Thompson has excellent feet, a solid frame and a good stroke to about 20 feet. He's a definite high major prospect.

We spoke with Thompson recently and he gave us a list of schools he's hearing from to date.

"Washington, Utah, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, Washington State, Boise State and Virginia are the main ones," said Thompson.

Thompson told us that all of the programs have sent coaches to see him this past year.

We asked what he is looking for in a college.

"The coach is big," said Thompson. "The team, the school and also how they are academically. I don't really have a preference on location."

We asked him if he had given any thought to when he might make his decision.

"I could decide early if it is what I'm looking for," said Thompson.

Thompson will be playing for the Seattle Friends of Hoop team in July.

"I go there every other weekend to practice with them," said Thompson. "My sister lives there and I stay with her."

Thompson told us he has a 3.4 GPA and he'll take the SAT in June.
