Elite Guard Holiday Has Options

Jrue Holiday, currently the top prospect in the west for 2008, is still in the early stages of his recruitment. He mentions a few Pac-10 programs and a Big Ten power as schools that are expressing interest in him...

Jrue Holiday, 6-3 SO SG/PG North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall, is currently our top-rated prospect in the West Coast class of 2008, regardless of position. Holiday is already a terrific player, but it is his potential down the road that really excites coaches and scouts. He is an explosive athlete, with great body control, and he can seemingly get his own shot whenever he wants. While he is a natural fit at the two, due to his scoring ability, we believe he can also play the one in college. He has excellent ball skills, with good vision, and he's a very good passer. He still has two more years of high school to go but, right now, Holiday is on track to be a special player.

We spoke with Holiday in Vegas over the weekend and asked him about the schools he's been hearing from so far.

"UCLA, Washington, Arizona, Illinois…those are some of them," said Holiday. "None of them have offered yet. I don't have a leader right now."

When questioned about schools he'd like to visit, Holiday replied, "I want to visit all of them. I want to see some practices and see what they're like."

Holiday's brother, Justin, is also a very good prospect. We asked Jrue about the possibility of going to school with his brother.

"I don't think that will be a factor," said Holiday. "I guess it might be if he went to a school, liked it, and then told me how it was."

We asked Holiday about the timing of his decision.

"My Mom asks me about it," said Holiday. "I'm really not sure yet. I haven't thought about it a lot."

Holiday is playing with friend Jerime Anderson on the Double Pump Elite team. We asked him about the possibility of playing with Anderson in college.

"I've played with him since the 7th grade, so I could see playing with him in college," said Holiday.

When asked if he will play in any of the college camps in June, Holiday said, "Maybe the UCLA camp – I'm not sure."

Holiday is reportedly a solid student and he should have no trouble qualifying.
