Thomas Headed To Tobacco Road

Lance Thomas joined the Duke Blue Devils on Thursday. Sources confirmed that the 6-foot-8 all-american is headed to Durham.

The Duke Blue Devils recruiting class now includes a trio of Top 20 prospects and another player ranked among the Top 40 players in America.

On Thursday, all-american Lance Thomas picked the Duke Blue Devils over Rutgers, Florida and Louisville. Thomas began notifying staffs of his decision shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, according to sources.

The Scarlet Knights made quite a run at him following the hiring of Fred Hill but were unable to close the gap on Duke in the end.

Meanwhile, Duke's recruiting class is very strong. The top-rated recruit of the bunch is No. 15 Gerald Henderson, a small forward out of Philly. He joins Jon Scheyer and Brian Zoubek to form a class that will finish among the Top 5 in the country.

Thomas, ranked the No. 19 prospect in the America by Scout.com, is an athletic power forward with bounce in his step. He can play facing the basket to mid-range but does his best work along the baselines where he's an attacked with a knack for getting to the free throw line.

Thomas' recruitment had been one of the most documented and highly anticipated announcements of the year. Only Top 10 Darrell Arthur and Top 40 Scottie Reynolds remain in terms of unsigned all-americans.
