Maze-ing Pickup

Bobby Maze finally got what he wanted - a chance to play at the high-major level. The Patterson School (N.C.) scoring guard is headed to the Big 12.

Bobby Maze, a 6-foot-2 guard at The Patterson School (N.C.) who hails from Washington, D.C., committed to Oklahoma just hours after returning from an official visit.

``At this time of the year, it's an unbelievable get for Jeff Capel and Oklahoma," Patterson associate coach Tim Thomas said. "He's someone who can come right in and start right away."

Maze is a big-time scoring guard whose physical appearance resembles that of NBA star Allen Iverson. His character has been questioned in the past. However, both Thomas and Patterson head coach Chris Chaney speak glowingly about Maze.

Maze was scheduled to take a visit to Kansas State tomorrow and had also scheduled a trip to Wake Forest for Tuesday.

``When he came here, he didn't really have anyone recruiting him," Thomas said. "But he has about 10 or 15 offers now. Like his high school coach said, he's a changed kis and has really matured. He's grown up and is a great pickup for Oklahoma."

Maze will help ease the blow of Capel and the Sooners losing Scottie Reynolds.
