We spoke with Tyler Tiedeman, 6-5 SR SG Santa Rosa (Calif.) Montgomery, and he told us that Utah and San Diego St. are his current leaders. "I'd like to stay in the west," Tiedeman said. "Right now, Utah and San Diego St. would be my leaders." Oregon, Loyola, Portland St. and St. Mary's are also in the mix.
Tiedeman, who is also a top baseball prospect, said that he will consider the opportunity to play both sports when he makes his college choice. "St. Mary's has said that I could play both," Tiedeman said. "I want to go to college, but I probably have a better chance of being a pro in baseball." Tiedeman has had a number of baseball scouts at his high school games. He has a 91 mph fastball.
As a basketball prospect, Tiedeman is very intriguing. He's a very good shooter, with deep range, and he has a point guard's feel for the game. He'll have to guard a shooting guard in college, but he plays point guard for Montgomery and does a terrific job of running the show.
Tiedeman told us that he has a 2.8 GPA and scored 990 on the SAT. He said he'll make a college decision later in the summer.
