New Offers For James Harden

James Harden has developed into one of the elite wings in the class of 2007 and his recruitment has picked up in recent weeks. Since the April evaluation period, two Pac-10 programs have offered Harden a scholarship...

James Harden, 6-5 JR SG/SF Lakewood (Calif.) Artesia, was outstanding this past weekend at the Cactus Classic and he was named MVP of the tournament after leading Pump N Run to the championship.

Harden had a great junior year at Artesia, leading his team to the state championship and he continued his stellar play in the April evaluation period. As a result, his recruitment has really started to take off.

"Washington and Arizona both offered me after April," said Harden. "Before that, Washington State and USC offered."

We asked Harden about the other programs he's considering.

"I'm also interested in Arizona State, Pittsburgh, UCLA and Texas," said Harden.

Harden said he'd like to take some unofficial visits prior to July.

"I'd like to take unofficials to UCLA, Arizona and Washington before the summer," said Harden.

When asked if any schools stand out on his list, Harden replied, "no, they're all the same right now."

We asked Harden about the issue of location and what he is looking for when it comes to choosing a school.

"I'd kind of like to go away, but if I decide I like one of the local schools, I'll stay in the west," said Harden. "I'd like the chance to play as a freshman. And, in terms of style of play, I like to run."

Harden said he plans on trimming his list fairly soon.

"In the next couple weeks, or maybe a month, I'd like to get it down to four or five schools," said Harden.

Harden said he has a 2.9 GPA and he just took the SAT a couple weeks ago.
