Pooh's Day Coming?

HACKENSACK, N.J. – It's no secret the Class of 2003 is thin at one of the most important positions on the court, the point guard slot. ABCD Camp has already yielded Mustafa Shakur and Aaron Brooks looks poised to toss his name into the mix of elite PGs. Now, we think Quinton Day could be the next player to knock on the door.

Under The Radar, But Emerging

We first saw Quinton "Pooh" Day two years ago when he was a spindly freshman. He was playing at the now defunct Show Me Shootout. At the time, Pooh was certainly a scorer who appeared to have a bright future. We thought we'd hear a lot from him in the coming years.

Mysteriously, all has been pretty quiet on the Pooh Day front. "I'm just a sleep," The Paseo Academy standout said. "Kansas City is not the place where a lot of scouts go to look at players."

Day's AAU team didn't travel very far and he's sure than has contributed to him being somewhat of a sleeper. Last year, he was named all-state and averaged 20.2 points. Still, his recruitment has been, for lack of a better term, slow to take off.

Day said that he thinks Missouri has gotten caught in kind of a numbers game with guards, though he thinks the Tigers are recruiting him. He knows Nebraska is recruiting him because he has an offer from the Huskers. He also feels like St. Louis, Minnesota and Oklahoma have offered. UNLV, Kansas and Iowa State seem interested. We'd tend to think KU won't have rooming seeing as though they took Jeremy Case two months ago.

Day has achieved a qualifying score on the ACT. Now, he's hoping the ABCD Camp will help bolster his name and get him some of the pub he deserves.

And, in case you were wondering about the nickname "Pooh" well his mother gave it too him. "She called me that when I was little. It used to be Pooh Bear."
