2007 Introduction: Carlon Brown

Carlon Brown, a 6-3 junior shooting guard from Riverside (Calif.), had a nice showing in the April evaluation period. He told us recently that he's hearing from Pac-10, Mountain West, Big West and WCC programs, among others...

Carlon Brown, 6-3 JR SG Riverside (Calif.) King, hadn't been seen much on the AAU circuit until this past April, when he had a series of impressive performances.

Brown has a solid all-around game, with the ability to get his own shot and create for others. He's a fairly good athlete and he showed a nice feel for the game. We want to evaluate him some more, but he's certainly an intriguing prospect at the mid major level and possibly higher.

We spoke with Brown recently and asked about the programs he's heard from so far.

"Stanford, Utah, Arizona State, Temple, UC Santa Barbara, Santa Clara and Pepperdine," said Brown.

When asked if any program stands out from the group, Brown said, "I like Stanford and Utah the best right now."

Brown talked a little about what he is looking for in a school.

"A good education, someplace that is basketball oriented -- not a football school," said Brown. "Location doesn't really matter. I wouldn't mind going east."

Brown said he is uncertain about when he'll choose a school.

"I'm not sure about the timing," said Brown. "I'll keep waiting unless the right offer comes along."

Brown will be visiting one of his schools this month.

"I'm going to the Stanford camp in June," said Brown. "I've been up there already once this year when they played Arizona."

Brown told us he has a 3.4 GPA and he'll take the SAT on June 3rd.
