Kyle Jeffers, 6-8 SR PF Santa Rosa (Calif.) Montgomery, is playing this week at the second session of the West Coast All Star camp. Still somewhat hobbled by two sprained ankles suffered at the Cal team camp, Jeffers isn't moving quite as well as he did prior to the injuries.
We spoke with Kyle last night and learned that his thinking has changed a bit when it comes to his college choice. Previously, Jeffers had Cal as his strong leader, but now he says that he might like to get a little farther away from home. "Pepperdine has really moved up on my list," Jeffers said. "It might be a great opportunity. Even though it's not in the Pac-10, it's in a good conference. I could play right away and step in with a chance to be a top player."
Jeffers is still considering Cal, along with Oregon, Stanford , Santa Clara and Kansas. He says that Cal, Oregon and Santa Clara have all offered.
Stanford would appear to be something of a longshot, as Jeffers scored 940 on the SAT and he has yet to fill out an application for Stanford.
As for Oregon, Jeffers said, "I like Oregon, but they don't have an engineering major, which is something I'm thinking about. They do have a good business school, though, and I'm also looking at that."
Jeffers hasn't set up any official visits yet and won't do so until later this summer.
