McGinn, who averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds a game last season, said he likes the allure of going away to college.
"I wouldn't mind staying close to home, maybe just a little bit," he said. "But I'm interested in going away. The college experience would be great."
Before the ABCD camp, he was being recruited by Texas Tech, Baylor, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Diego and Kent State. He said that New Mexico State had offered, but that many of the other schools said "they were close to offering."
His plan is to take some official officials soon. "I'd like to start taking official visits in August, as soon as the camps and tournaments are done. I'm aiming to commit in November, but I could verbally commit early. I'd have to make sure it was a good fit for me. But I'll definitely wait until after all my trips before making a decision."
What schools does he plan on visiting? "I don't know right now," he said. "I have to wait and see who offers. Then I'll make a top five list and go from there."
McGinn is a good student, with a 3.8 GPA and having scored an 1180 on his SAT.
