2007 Introduction: Robert Jones

Robert Jones is a bit underized as a 6-5 power forward. But the junior from San Francisco has a very good all-around game and he's receiving interest from WCC, Ivy League and Big West programs, among others...

Robert Jones, 6-5 JR PF San Francisco (Calif.) Riordan, is a very intriguing prospect. While he's a bit undersized, Jones makes up for a lack of height with a terrific feel for the game and high skill level. Jones has excellent feet and hands. He's got some bounce to him and he's a good rebounder. We think he's a very good prospect at the mid major level.

We spoke with Jones recently and he gave us a list of schools that have been in contact with him.

"Yale, San Diego, Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, St. Mary's, Santa Clara, Columbia and Cal Poly," said Jones.

We asked if any schools stand out for him at this time.

"No, they're all pretty much equal," said Jones. "UC Davis and St. Mary's have offered."

Jones told us he has taken an unofficial visit to UC Davis and he'll be taking more unofficial visits next week.

"I'm going to my cousin's graduation at San Diego State," said Jones. "So I'm going to visit San Diego, Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara on the way back."

We asked Jones what he is looking for in a school.

"The team chemistry is very important to me," said Jones. "I like to see how the players interact when the coaches aren't around. Location is not a real big deal to me – it's probably more important to my parents."

Jones said he's not sure about the timing of his decision.

"I'm thinking about picking a school maybe early in the fall, but I'm not real sure yet," said Jones.

Jones told us he has a 3.3 GPA and he just took the SAT earlier this month.
