Viney Favors Two

Drew Viney, one of the more talented forwards in the class of 2007, is starting to hear from some elite programs across the country. But two Pac-10 programs closer to home are currently at the top of his list...

Drew Viney, 6-6 JR SF Villa Park (Calif.) High, is a silky smooth scorer who ranks among the top players at his position in the west.

We spoke with Viney recently and he gave us an update on his recruitment.

"I've just started hearing some lately from Kentucky," said Viney. "My coach told me that he's been talking with Coach Wojo at Duke as well. Then there are some other ACC programs that have started to show interest and my coach said they'll be out in July to watch me." Viney went on to say, "the West Coast programs that have been on me for awhile are Washington, California, Arizona State, USC, Pepperdine, Washington State, Oregon and New Mexico. Those programs have all offered."

The last time we spoke with Viney, he mentioned Washington and Cal as his two leaders. We asked if those two schools still top his list.

"Yes, they're still the main two," said Viney.

Viney has taken unofficial visits to Cal, Washington, Arizona and USC. He told us he'll set up official visits sometime after the summer.
