Leaders For Kareem Nitoto

Kareem Nitoto, a 6-2 junior guard from Northern California, is an intriguing prospect who might play point guard or shooting guard in college. He told us recently that he has Pac-10 and SEC schools at the top of his list...

We spoke with Kareem Nitoto, 6-2 JR PG/SG San Leandro (Calif.) High, over the weekend and asked about the schools showing interest in him.

"St. Mary's, Pepperdine, Washington State, Stanford and Oregon have been the main ones," said Nitoto. "I've heard a little bit from Kentucky."

When asked if he has any favorites, Nitoto said, "Stanford and Kentucky, then maybe St. Mary's."

Nitoto talked a little about the issues he'll consider when picking a school.

"The education is important," said Nitoto. "Then the school's prestige and what kind of guards have come out of the school. Location is not an issue. Early playing time is not a big deal either."

Nitoto told us an ACC school was his dream school when he was younger.

"North Carolina was my favorite school growing up," said Nitoto.

We asked Nitoto if he has given any thought to when he'll make a commitment.

"My father and I have talked a little," said Nitoto. "I think it will probably be after the Big Time (late July)."

Nitoto told us he's doing well in school. "I had a 3.5 in the last semester," said Nitoto.
