Jones Is A Terp
On Tuesday, the Maryland Terrapins had four scholarships to give out. On Wednesday, that number was 3.
Michael Jones, one of the top perimeter prospects in the Class of 2003, committed to the Terrapins, according to our sources.
For several months now, Jones claimed the Terps as his leader. He visited Maryland's campus the final weekend in June. At that point, it was expected that he would commit to Maryland but it didn't happen.
Last week, Jones played at the ABCD Camp. For him, it was an average performance. The Braintree (MA) Thayer Academy prospect will play with the Long Island Panthers next week at the adidas Big Time.
In adding Jones, the Terps get one of the most talented swingmen around. He's a big time scorer and is capable of playing either swing position. Now, the Terps will chase two big men. Hassan Fofana is a top target. With their fourth and final grant, expect Maryland to go best available player and one would think the defending national champs will have no problem luring a high-caliber player to campus.
