2007 Sleeper Maurice Jackson

Maurice Jackson hasn't been seen much yet on the club ball cirucit, but plenty of college coaches are aware of him. We spoke with the talented shooting guard recently and got an update on his recruitment...

Maurice Jackson, 6-2 SR SG Gilbert (Ariz.) High, has a very good basketball body and a nice stroke with three-point range. Jackson needs to get a little better with the ball, but he's an intriuging prospect to watch in the class of 2007.

We spoke with Jackson the other day and he gave us a list of schools he's heard from to date.

"Stanford, Portland, Arizona State, UNLV, Boise State and San Diego," said Jackson.

We asked Jackson if any program stands out for him at this time.

"Probably Stanford and San Diego," said Jackson.

Jackson talked a little about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.

"Academics is the first thing -- that's really important," said Jackson. "I'd kind of like to stay somewhat close to home, as my mother has a heart condition and I'd like to be near her. Early playing time is not really a big deal, as long as I have a chance to play at some point."

When questioned about the timing of his decision, Jackson said, "I want to sit down with my mother and figure it out after the summer. I'm not close to deciding right now."
