The 6-foot-9, 218-pound rising senior at Romulus High (Mich.) committed to Dayton, a day after taking an unofficial visit to the school.
``It was just the perfect fit," said Searcy, a 3.0 student. "They have everything I need to be successful academically and basketball-wise."
``I just felt like I was at home," he added. "The basketball staff was like a family."
Searcy, who will play with The Family in July, is a long, athletic forward who averaged 15 points and 9 boards his junior season. He also considered West Virginia, Charlotte, UNLV, Tennessee and Xavier.
Searcy needs to get stronger and become more consistent, but he'll give Brian Gregory and the Flyers an impressive future frontcourt duo with Chris Wright – who will also play at the Nike All-American Camp next week.
``I think my biggest strengths are running the floor, rebounding and defending," Searcy said. "My weakness is being weak. I can finish pretty good, but when I get the ball on the low block, I get knocked around."
